COREDINATE 9.29: SMS Notifications, Profile Pictures and Device Export

SMS notifications

Your notification rules can now use SMS as an output type. As the recipient, you set a phone number, a user or a device. The alert then reaches any mobile phone, whether or not the COREDINATE app is installed and whether or not a data connection is available.

Email and push both require the device to be online and the recipient to actively use the app. On patrol duty, that is often not the case: a guard tour leads through basements and underground car parks without a data connection, or a night shift is covered at short notice by staff who do not receive the alerts on their private phones.

The SMS module is a paid add-on. It is activated per client account and billed by the number of SMS sent, so you pay only for the SMS that actually go out.

Custom profile pictures

Every user can now upload a profile picture and adjust the crop and zoom within the round frame. The picture appears in the portal, in the app and on non-anonymous community posts.

In a small team, everyone knows everyone. On a site with thirty rotating guards, stand-ins and subcontractors, it looks different. A name in a list tells the operations manager little. A face identifies the person at once, in the duty roster and in the community.

Device list as Excel export

Device management now has a button that exports the complete device list as an Excel file, including ID, IMEI, UUID, name and licence.

If you manage a fleet of rugged smartphones, you know the effort of the annual inventory: Which device is at which site? Which IMEI belongs to which licence? Which model is due for replacement? The export puts these details into a table that you can filter, sort and reconcile with your asset accounting. If a device is lost, you have the IMEI at hand. For cost control, you have the licence overview.

Does an SMS arrive when the smartphone is offline?

Yes. SMS runs on the mobile network and needs neither a data connection nor the installed app. As long as there is mobile coverage, the SMS is delivered.

Who can receive SMS notifications?

A directly stored phone number, a user or a device. You set the recipient in each notification rule.

Does SMS replace the existing email and push notifications?

No. SMS is an additional output type in the notification rules. Email and push remain available. For each rule, you choose the channel that fits the alert.
